The 5th edition of the Asia Urban Energy Assembly will be held as a two-day international conference on July 2–3 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok, Thailand. This event was co-located with ASIA Sustainable Energy Week, one of the region’s most comprehensive international exhibitions and conferences on renewable energy, energy efficiency, and energy storage technologies. In 2025, the event attracted more than 30,000 visitors from 63 countries, including 7,622 conference delegates, making it one of the leading platforms for updates on market developments, technologies, financing, and project opportunities.

With only 24 years remaining until 2050, Asia is accelerating efforts to transform its energy systems and policies to meet ambitious energy and climate targets. At the same time, energy landscape is shifting rapidly, driven by the rise of affordable renewable energy and the fast rollout of energy storage solutions. In fact, 2026 is expected to be the first year in which electricity generation from renewable sources surpasses coal, marking a historic shift in the global power mix. Energy storage technologies, including battery energy storage systems, are experiencing similarly rapid growth and are becoming one of the fastest-expanding segments of the energy sector.

Energy efficiency remains a topic that often receives far less attention than it deserves. According to the International Energy Agency, energy efficiency is the single most important measure for reducing global greenhouse gas emissions. It is, for good reason, referred to as the world’s “first fuel” in the energy transition, and will together with renewable energy, and energy storage solutions be a clear focus as Asia and the world will continue to decarbonize. Cooling is one of the fastest-growing end uses of energy worldwide. Today, space cooling already accounts for around ten percent of global GHG emissions, and without decisive action, cooling demand is expected to triple by 2050, and half of this projected increase will come from just three Asian markets: India, China, and Indonesia. It is essential to meet this growth with efficient and sustainable solutions.

The 5th edition of the Asia Urban Energy Assembly will focus on how energy efficiency and district cooling will help shape Asia’s energy transformation. The event will also explore how real estate developments and urban planning will contribute to shaping Asia’s future cities. The expected audience includes energy professionals from the public and private sectors, such as utility representatives, government officials, policymakers, developers, consultants, investors, international organisations, and academic institutions.
