Foreign Property Investment: Thoughts for Thailand
Thursday 20 February 2025 at Novotel Bangkok Platinum Pratunam Hotel
Dear Dr. Prateep Tangmatitham,
Honorary President, FIABCI-Thai (อ่านว่า ฟี เอฟ ซี่ ไทย)
Dr. Sopon Pornchokchai, President, FIABCI-Thai
And all the honorable guests
Today, I am very honored to be the chairman of this seminar and give the opening speech for the seminar on Foreign Real Estate Investment: Thoughts for Thailand.
Nowadays, there are many foreign investors from all over the world who come to invest in real estate in Thailand. Government agencies, private sectors and Thai people should learn from the examples and lessons from various countries in this regard to apply to our own country, Thailand. Therefore, we can manage with this surge of international investment.
I am delighted that FIABCI-Thai has organized this special seminar and I have learned that the association has invited experts from many countries to exchange ideas for the benefit of our country, Thailand, including Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia and the Philippines.
The government and the Ministry of Interior also hope to learn from this seminar on the matter of:
1. Legal issues regarding property ownership for foreigners, such as property purchase tax, resale tax, minimum purchase price for foreigners, length of stay in the country before purchase, inheritance tax, etc.
2. Licensing system for land developers, agents, and property appraisers
To ensure the confidence of foreign customers, how should Thailand upgrade the profession by issuing licenses for those involved in the real estate industry?
Moreover, tomorrow the association will arrange for foreign investors to visit Thai real estate projects in Bangkok and Pattaya to encourage them to consider investing in Thailand, which will further support the real estate development industry of our country.
I would appreciate FIABCI-Thai for organizing this beneficial event for the country and wish the seminar success.
